Opportunity Snapshot

Whether you are serious about a career change or you're ready to align your financial career with a clear industry leader, you owe it to yourself to consider Northwestern Mutual Financial Network (NMFN), The Waltos Group: Financial representatives work closely with clients to develop customized solutions that meet long-term financial goals and objectives. They offer exclusive access to insurance products from a top-rated company, Northwestern Mutual, as well as disability income insurance, and an array of quality financial products and services available through Network Partners.

You may not have heard of Northwestern Mutual -- they're the "quiet company." As a true mutual company, their customers are the policy owners, and since 1857, Northwestern Mutual has consistently focused on one ambition: to do the right thing for the people who put their trust in us. That commitment pervades its corporate culture, and you'll find a strongly collaborative environment at The Waltos Group.

Who We Are

At Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, The Waltos Group, we exist to help our clients manage financial risk and achieve financial security through a needs based selling approach. We provide access to world-class insurance products and internationally recognized investment services. NMFN representatives are building long lasting relationships with their clients, guiding them through the many life stages of their financial plan. Client building is a core competency of ours, and is shown in our high client retention. The purpose of The Waltos Group is to create an environment where growth, opportunity and development, through mutual accountability, are all achieved. Our ambition is to make a positive impact on all our associates and their cliental. Being aligned with our team means having a commitment to achieve your true desires: personally, professionally and financially.

What You'll Bring to the Table

You don't need finance or even sales experience -- if you are coachable and follow the course we've laid out for you, we can help you succeed. What you do need, however, is strong self-motivation and a willingness to invest "sweat equity." We're looking for individuals with a track record of success and the entrepreneurial drive to build business. That will require patience, persistence, and a strong desire to create something special for yourself and your future clients.

If you are a good fit for this opportunity, you are most likely accustomed to winning but, like all great athletes, you'll also be familiar with defeat. This will have enabled you with great mental toughness and the ability to manage your successes and challenges. Professional maturity and character will be pivotal factors in your success: you'll need a strong sense of integrity and a proven ability to cultivate relationships based on trust and mutual respect.

Your character, past track record of success, and your expectations of what you want from your career are more important then the type of work you have done, or designations you hold. The Waltos Group will help you earn the licensing and designations, over time, that are necessary for this role. A bachelor's degree is strongly preferred, and we will consider non-degreed candidates with proven track record of entrepreneurial success. We'll complete an extensive background check on all viable candidates.

What's in It for You

A reputation that practically sells itself -- Northwestern Mutual is the largest direct provider of life insurance, according to A.M. Best Company, 2007, an insurance information source. We consistently earn the highest possible financial strength ratings from the four major financial ratings services (Moody's: AAA, 12/2007; Standard & Poor's: AAA, 11/2007; Fitch Ratings: AAA, 7/2007; and A.M. Best Company: A++, 5/2007). Our customers give us the highest satisfaction score among US life insurers, according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index's (ACSI) fourth quarter 2007 consumer study.

Career choices -- many of our Financial Representatives enjoy a long and rewarding career in this role, which helps them to build their ideal lifestyle. Opportunities exist to expand your career into additional product and services offerings. If you have leadership ambitions, you might pursue a role as a mentor or leadership team member. You might even seek a position at our home office in Milwaukee, WI.

Comprehensive, high quality training -- you'll receive initial industry and sales training as well as mentoring and joint work programs for hands-on experience. You'll have access to online education resources for polishing skills and keeping up to date on industry information as well as exposure to opportunities for ongoing career education and advanced professional designations which help you to increase your knowledge and reputation.

Competitive compensation -- Northwestern Mutual provides competitive compensation in the form of commissions, fees, and bonuses that reward you financially for your sales efforts. With access to high-quality products and financial representative support systems, all of these components, in combination with our benefits and retirement program, contribute toward your total compensation package.

We offer opportunities to earn compensation during training, by performing activities that will help you learn, such as developing a marketing and business strategy, shadowing a financial representative (with the permission of the policyowner or prospect), and more. If you are currently employed, you may be able to keep working until you make the transition. Most of our training is available during off hours and online, although you'll need some schedule flexibility.

Solid benefits -- as part of our commitment to recruiting and retaining top quality people, we provide a competitive total compensation package that includes benefits such as comprehensive medical coverage, flexible spending accounts, a health reimbursement account, LifeMatters Assistance plan, two company-funded retirement plans, and more.

Great work environment -- Northwestern Mutual's objective is not to be the biggest, but to be the best, and we fully embrace the term "mutual." As a true mutual company, our business structure genuinely brings into alignment the interests of both policy owners and the company. On a day-to-day basis, you'll see that mutuality matters: you'll collaborate frequently with internal and external partners in a networked infrastructure of resources. As a result, Northwestern Mutual's culture is very supportive; in fact, our yearly gathering in Milwaukee feels as much like a family reunion as an annual meeting.
